File extension max information
File extension MAX is associated with the PaperPort Scanned Document from ScanSoft Inc. files with extension MAX are images imported via scanner or created by ScanSoft PaperPort scanning software. The files are saved in a propriety format used by ScanSoft Software. Since ScanSoft is now part of Nuance Communications, the programs used to open these files for Windows are Nuance PaperPort, Nuance OmniPage Professional or Nuance Paperport Viewer. For Mac OS, one needs Nuance OmniPage Pro X or Nuance Paperport Viewer. If one is sent a MAX image, they should try to view it using the viewer. If this does not work, they can ask to be resent the image in a viewable format.
